SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. - Sullivan County Regional Health Department is helping kids get ready for going back to school this week. The goal--keeping kids healthy and getting them prepared. The health department is performing physicals for kids in need in the area. They will also be giving away school supplies to lend a helping hand.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - An old sign is sending a new message in downtown Johnson City. The "Johnson City Landmark Sign" has stood there for more than 50 years. It has been the face of an old grocery store and recently U-Haul.
KINGSPORT, Tenn. - 400 people gathered in Kingsport today to paint barrels in preparation for Fun Fest. The 32-year old tradition is an all-around, eco-friendly project. The event encourages others to keep Kingsport litter-free in a fun and colorful way.
UNICOI, Tenn. - The town of Unicoi is bringing its community together through yard sales. The first Friday and Saturday each month, Unicoi hosts a community yard sale. Members of the town can set up a booth for free. Tables, chairs and other set-up equipment are not provided.
BRISTOL, Tenn. - The Tennessee Highway Patrol is reminding people to stay safe and sober on the roads Tuesday night. On the Fourth of July, there is usually an increase in traffic on the highways, making it harder to get some places on time.
KINGSPORT, Tenn. - The city of Kingsport is improving access to a veterans memorial at J. Fred Johnson Park by demolishing an old building. The building at North Eastman and Fort Henry Drive was a Highway Patrol building. More recently, it housed the offices of city engineers.
BRISTOL, Tenn. - The warmer weather has a local rescue mission concerned about their clients. Their focus is hydration. Haven of Rest in Bristol serves the homeless and the helpless. They started a bottled water drive on their Facebook page after running dry.
GRAY, Tenn. - Children are digging up some fun this week at the Gray Fossil Site. Paleo Summer Camp gives kids the opportunity to work hands on with fossils. They also get to work on other experiments and science-based projects.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - A local drumline camp is raising hopes of bringing more music students to ETSU. Students in the Tri-Cities got to work with a leading artist in marching arts today. This is the second year the East Tennessee Drumline Camp has been held at the college.
KINGSPORT, Tenn. - The city of Kingsport celebrated red, white and blue pride in a big way Tuesday. This year marks the 64th year of the Mack Riddle American Legion Independence Day Parade. It stretched from Center Street to the Veterans Memorial on Fort Henry Drive.
